Program Overview - Help ensure the safety, well being, and growth of underserved individuals in our community particularly children. Provide safe family geared events where community members can come together and network in a safe environment. To form a Community Collaborative that will do outreach, conduct one on one and group meetings with community members.
The Southside Summer Experience 2023 consist of a day camp (June 26-July 28, 2023 and 7 pop-up events including a kick-off pop-up event on June 22. The Camp and pop-up events will provide positive activities at various areas on the South Side for youth and their families. All activities and events are free. In 2018 through a partnership between Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation, Department of Justice, YPD and ICU Neighborhood Organization, the very first southside summer experience was created. It definitely had a positive impact in the high crime area and bought residents and local law enforcement together. With the recent increase in crime on the southside, we will provide safe and fun activities and encourage positive neighborhood interactions with residents, community leaders and law enforcement.
